According to Economica, Chinese photovoltaic module manufacturer DAHAI SOLAR has established a factory in Calarasi, southern Romania, and is expected to start production from August to September this year after the installation of the production line is completed.
The plant has an investment of approximately 10 million euros and has an annual production capacity of 2 GW of TOPCon photovoltaic modules. This will be the first photovoltaic panel production plant in Romania with huge production capacity.
Representatives of the company said it plans to use Romania as a production and sales center for all of Eastern Europe. According to sources, once completed, the Chinese factory will become the only factory in Romania with huge production capacity.
It is understood that the overall level of local photovoltaic manufacturing in Romania is weak. Altius Fotovoltaic was previously developed and temporarily operated by a local entrepreneur in Giurgiu County, with a maximum production capacity of 1,500MW per year. However, it was reported that it was forced to shut down due to high production costs. Another company, Wattrom, also has an assembly plant, but now also seems to only sell photovoltaic modules.
Public information shows that Dahai Solar was established in 2011 and is a subsidiary of Dahai Group, a state-owned enterprise. It has four major production bases in Daozhuang Headquarters, Laiwu, Guangrao Development Zone, and Dongying Development Zone. It currently has nearly 1,000 employees and an annual output of 5GW of solar photovoltaic modules. The planned production capacity of silicon slicing is 10GW, which can cut silicon wafers of 157mm, 166mm, 182mm, and 210mm specifications; and the annual cleaning capacity of silicon materials of various specifications is 1,000 tons. It is a technology-based energy company integrating R&D, production and sales of photovoltaic module manufacturing.
